My Favorite Green Smoothie
Green smoothies seem to be all the rage the last couple of years, right? Well, I feel like there is good reason for that. They are so fast and have a ton of fruits and vegetables, vitamins and minerals in them that are so good for you. I have been drinking a green smoothie consistently for 5 years and I am not getting sick of them anytime soon. They are the first thing I drink in the morning. All 3 of my kids love them as well. The biggest benefit for me personally is that it curbs my sweet tooth.
Here is how we make our favorite green smoothie:
Fill a blender with 16 oz of water then add 2-4 handfuls of greens of choice. I buy a huge bag of Power Greens (spinach, kale, chard) from Costco and freeze it. If you are new to green smoothies, I would start with 2 small handfuls of greens. My family and I have been doing these smoothies forever so we can handle a LOT of greens without tasting them. Blend for 30-60 seconds or til completely smooth. DON’T SKIP THIS STEP. This is essential to get those greens really well blended so you don’t notice them.
Next I like to add a banana for sweetness, 1 other fruit (usually an apple or an orange) and then 2 cups of frozen fruit. I buy big bags of frozen fruit from Costco and rotate through them. I like the tropical medley, berry medley, strawberries, and mangoes.
Blend again for 60 seconds or til smooth and you are done!
It takes me 5 minutes to make these. What is your favorite way to make a smoothie?
I finally pulled the trigger about a year ago and bought a blendtec. It is my favorite purchase I have ever made. I can’t tell you what a difference it makes to have a nice blender. Especially if you are going to use it at least twice a day llike we do over here,
